Cheyenne Mountain State Park. This park is so nice it almost single handled put the former Colorado State Parks out of business as they spent more money building incredible hiking trails, a nature center, archery range and an RV campground than they thought they had. Colorado State Parks is now merged with Colorado Division of Wildlife creating Colorado Parks and Wildlife so the money situation has been fixed and this incredible park remains as a result. Cheyenne Mountain State Park is one of the hidden gems of Colorado Springs as many visitors overlook it as it is not nearly as popular as some of the other parks and open spaces around Colorado Springs.
