With great organizations like Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation and Friends of Cheyenne Canon, the trail system is incredible and world-class with many projects and improvements happening every year the trail system is really a quality one. Additionally, there are many great outdoor experiences available for people in Colorado Springs. For all your shopping needs, you'll find Northwest to be super accommodating with all kinds of retail shopping options. From Garden of the Gods Rd. north up to Woodmen road. There are all the big grocery stores in the area including Safeway and King Soopers which are both situated in the area. Additionally, some of our favorite restaurants in the Northwest area include Mollica's Italian Market, Narai-Thai, and another exciting place to get a meal is the chuckwagon style meal served at Flying W Ranch. A Family style chuckwagon meal consists of beans, meat, chili, corn fritters or cornbread and usually some sort of stew, pie or jerky.
Schools In Northwest Area
For families considering a move to the Northwest area, it is always a good idea to get an idea of what schools your loved ones will be attending. If you purchase a home in the Northwest area, you'll be assigned to the Academy District 20 which is a top-ranked district in Colorado. Some of the schools within this district include:

The total amount of students for the entire district is about twenty-four thousand.
We have a lot of friends, co-workers, and colleagues who live in Northwest Colorado Springs Area. These friends of ours always speak highly of the area and one of the big things they always talk about is the views. They love watching the sunrise in the morning over the eastern planes east of Downtown Colorado Springs. The one thing about that view is that it usually, more often than not, includes some sort of framing by the Front Range Rocky Mountains with Pikes Peak to the south-west and Cheyenne Mountain to the South. No matter what area in Northwest Colorado Springs you are looking there is likely to be a fantastic view right out of your front or back door.
Additional advantages to living in the Northwest area include easy access to Downtown Colorado Springs as well as Manitou Springs, Broadmoor Area and incredible parks like Cheyenne Mountain State Park to the south and Spruce Mountain Open Space to the north. The Northwest area features grand views of Downtown Colorado Springs's skyline and the eastern plains of Colorado to the east of Colorado Springs. We love the Northwest area because of how close it is to the mountain and all of it mountainous views are really some of the most unique in the area. When you stand on top of Blodgett Peak it seems like you can see the entire Colorado Eastern Plains as well as Castle rock and Denver to the north. The view is absolutely breathtaking. *Blodgett Peak is an advanced hiking trail be sure to be prepared with proper safety equipment. Many Colorado Springs Trails are rated easy however, some trails are advanced and require some safety and survival skills to properly protect yourself. All in all, no matter where you get outside, it is a always a smart idea to prepare yourself with proper clothing (stay away from cotton - cotton kills) and plenty of water. It is wise to always bring twice as much as you think you will need, and as a backup, water purification tablets are very useful if you run out of water in the backcountry.
