Things to do in Colorado Springs this Weekend | January 25th - January 27th


Colorado Springs always provides many fun and exciting things to do.


Colorado Springs was recently voted as the Most Desirable Place to Live according to US News (Colorado Springs is #1) and Best Places to Live (Colorado Springs is ranked #2). With plenty of darn right fun stuff to do and a load of events that occur every weekend Colorado Springs is always a happening place (see our Guide to Annual Events for more information). When it comes to wild and open spaces both within the city as well as within a short drive from Colorado Springs there are nearly limitless options in Colorado Springs. Additionally, Colorado Springs is host to a bunch of really interesting museums and attractions. Colorado Springs is our home and has been for more than 33 years. We love it here and want to share it with you. Therefore, we are always looking for the best things to do and keeping a keen eye open to the latest and greatest things to do in Colorado Springs.  

Top things to do in Colorado Springs this weekend (January 25th, 2019 - January 27th, 2019): 


1. Live Birds of Prey

When: Saturday, January 26th, 2019 10 AM - 11 AM

Cost: $4/member, $5/nonmember

Where: Fountain Creek Nature Center

Why: If you love raptors, birds of prey, and wildlife then this event is for you. Imagine being up close and personal with incredible species like hawks, eagles, falcons, owls, vultures, and kestrels. Nature & Wildlife Recovery Center will be bringing birds they have rehabilitated and are captive birds so you can enjoy their magnificence live in person and up close. The event will include a presentation about two different birds of prey and will teach you all about their adaptations, predator/prey relationships, and how Nature & Wildlife Recovery Center works to rehabilitate birds whether they are sick, injured, or orphaned the Recovery Center works hard to make sure you these birds have the opportunity to be nursed back to life and ultimately releasing them back into the wild. Sometimes the birds can be reintroduced in which case places like Nature & Wildlife Recovery Center keep the birds the help make great events like this one super interesting with live birds that can still serve a purpose to help people understand their importance in keeping the natural ecosystem around Colorado Springs in balance. 2. Black History Month Kickoff Fair

When: January 26th, 2019 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Where: Westside Community Center

Cost: $10 suggested donation

Why: Colorado Springs has a number of great local and diverse organizations and African-American Historical & Genealogical Society of Colorado Springs happens to be one of them. With a mission to ensure the African-Americans are included as an integral piece of the history of Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak Region as well as at a national level. African-American Historical & Genealogical Society of Colorado Springs has the goal to help youth have a sense of pride and to help expose the broader community to the importance of the culture and incredible contributions of black people in Colorado Springs. This will be a well-timed event with Colorado Springs recently being on the national stage in regards to black people making incredible contributions to the community with the blockbuster film The Black Klansman directed by Spike Lee. 3. Peter Pan Jr.

When: January 25th, 26th, & 27th 2019 

Cost: $10-$12

Where: Ent Center for the Arts

Why: Do you love theater and the arts? Do you love Disney stories such as Peter Pan? You will be sure to enjoy Peter Pan Jr. at the incredible and new ENT Center for the Arts. Located right next to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs the Center for the Arts is a brand new state of the art theatre which brings in National and International acts and shows such as Peter Pan Jr.  Experience Neverland complete with high flying action, melodic musical numbers such as "I'm Flying" and "I Won't Grow Up." Peter Pan, Jr. is the perfect show for both adults and kids alike and for what you get you can't beat seeing a special musical performance like this for only $12! 4. Colorado Floyd

When: Saturday, January 26th, 2019 7:00 PM 

Cost: Free - first come first serve

Where: Stargazers Theatre

Why: Who doesn't love Pink Floyd?! Imagine an entire line up of Pink Floyd songs played by incredible local artists who have been playing together and rocking out Pink Floyd jams for over six years. Colorado Floyd's Band members include Michael Golembesky (Keyboards & Vocals), Clint Walker (Guitar & Vocals), Ronnie Hendricks (Bass), Doug Glenn (Drums). These guys love to rock incredible shows like this one and seating is first come first serve to be sure to show up early to get yourself a great seat. 


5. Old Colorado City Customer Appreciation Day

When: January 26th, 10 AM - 5 PM

Cost: Free

Where: Hunter-Wolff Gallery

Why: Hunter-Wolff Gallery is located in Old Colorado City's art district along with another dozen or more shops and galleries participating in this special event to honor those who keep those businesses going. Witness incredible pieces of art going at extremely low prices for this one day only event. Also, don't miss the live demonstrations from some of our favorite artists including Marlene Kort, George Bodde, Cassandra Sharon and Keoni Carlson all who will provide an experience you will not want to miss.
