If you are looking for things to do in Colorado Springs this week you have come to the right place. We love this city and we are always looking for the best things to do in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas! The following is our list of top things to do this week in Colorado Springs:

 

 

1. Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo

When: July 11 -14

WhereNorris Penrose Event Center

Why: If the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo has been a long-standing tradition in Colorado Springs. This week 78 years ago was the first annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. Since the Rodeo has been attracting top talent in professional rodeo. Thirty-two professional cowgirls and cowboys are invited of whom all are champions including steer wrestling, tie-down roping, bareback, bull riding and saddle bronc, this event is sure to impress anyone with a thirst for excitement! With only $200,000 in prize money, there is a huge incentive for these brave competitors to give it their best. 

 

 

2. Renaissance Festival Wine Themed Weekend

When: Thursday, July 14th -15th 10:00 am to 6:30 pm

Where: Larkspur - DIRECTIONS

Why: The Renaissance Festival has been a longstanding tradition in Larkspur. Every summer when our kids were growing up we would take them to this exciting festival. The live knight show is absolutely incredible to see a real in-person jousting competition! There are many live shows sure to entertain and this weekend is special because of the fact that it is wine revelry weekend! There will be a live grape stomp-off where people actually stomp the grapes to start the winemaking process! You can't miss the free wine sampling at the Dancing Bear Pub from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. 

 

 

3. Broadmoor Galleries Plein Air Show

When: July 13th - 15th 

Where: Broadmoor Hotel

Why: This event is so cool if you like art or not it will be amazing to watch all of these absolutely incredible artists perform LIVE! On the historic grounds of the Broadmoor Hotel, you will have a chance to see artists such as Dix Baines, Steve Clement (no relation but we love Steve's work!), Linsday Dawson and Sarah Woods to name a few. The show will go from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, July 13th, Saturday, July 14th, and Sunday, July 15th. To get a chance to watch these incredibly talented individuals perform their work and share thier insights while they do so will be a truly unique experience. 

 

 

4. Cripple Creek Music Fest

When: July 15th 12:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Where: Downtown Cripple Creek

Why: This is a great way to see some awesome free music in one of the most historic cities around. Cripple Creek is a great place to visit for a day drive from Colorado Springs. This event has beer, food, and features music by Joe Nichols who is a pretty awesome country artist. Additionally, the famous Molly Hatchet will be performing so this event will be a must-see for anyone who loves classic rock music and huge street parties. Hats off to Cripple Creek for putting on such a great event. We will see you there!

 

 

6. Purely Bluegrass Concert

When: July 14th 11:00 AM

Where: Woodland Park - Midland Pavillion

Why: If you love great music such as bluegrass and listening to it in unique settings then this event is for you. The Midland Pavillion in Woodland Park is a fun place to see a concert with a large grassy area and the crisp and fresh morning air in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This concert will be sure to impress any music lover, however, those with a thirst for some down-home and authentic music will be uniquely intrigued by this bluegrass concert as two incredible bluegrass acts will be playing. These acts include Flatt Five Bluegrass and Blue Canyon Boys.
