2019 Pikes Peak Ascent Starting Line

RE/MAX Properties, Inc. represents at the 2019 Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon

The 2019 Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon is one for the books. With great weather, a large crowd, and races full to the brim with incredible runners from around the world. Living in Colorado Springs we have the advantage with incredible access to amazing wild spaces around our city. The Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon do an awesome job highlighting one of the most coveted wild spaces close to Colorado Springs: Pikes Peak.

This year RE/MAX Properties, Inc. had many runners qualify for this challenging event. RE/MAX Properties, broker associates Maggie Easton and Val Bays ran in the Pikes Peak Ascent both with successful finishes.

Keep in mind people, this is a half marathon up a mountain. That's 7.8K in elevation gain over 13.1 miles. Wow Val and Maggie, Nice work!!!

My son Tony, who has been running in the Pikes Peak Ascent or Marathon for nearly 15 years, greeted the Ascent runners in the picture above next to his good runner friends who were dressed up in a shark outfit and a lifeguard cheering on the runners.

Tony has taken 1st in his age group and, as a dedicated runner, he loves to get other people into the sport. Recently he recruited my youngest son, Nick, onto the trail. Aside from seeing them train hard every week in the gym and at the pool, they spend many hours in the outdoors running on our many local trails here in Colorado Springs. All of that hard work paid off this weekend when both had successful finishes. Nick ran the Ascent and Tony ran the marathon.

Tony, once told me he would never run the Pikes Peak Marathon again. He told me this one year right after he ran the Pikes Peak Marathon. Yet, against his word, this year he did it again. He ended up with a calf injury giving him trouble but he still finished the race!

Tony runs with his family at the end of the 2019 Pikes Peak Ascent.

The city of Manitou Springs is an incredible place to visit whether you are from the Pikes Peak Region or not there is always something to do here. With so many people coming to town for the big back-to-back races with the Ascent and Marathon, this town really supports the racers and visitors from all over the world. With so many assets built within the city such as the famous Manitou Springs Mineral Springs and the constant view of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and if you are far enough east in the city an incredible view of Pikes Peak. It is a really special thing for the runners of the Pikes Peak Ascent to be standing at the starting line with a straight-line view of Pikes Peak peaking through. (No pun intended). To be standing there saying, "oh, I'm about to run up that mountain" must be nerve-wracking however somehow these runners manage to make it happen.

My son Nick used to be a 270 lb defensive tackle for the University of Colorado so he is no stranger to intense physical activity. However, he still weighs about 220 lbs which is no small load to carry to the top of a 14er.

2019 Pikes Peak Ascent | Nick Clement

Thanks to Tony, Nick knows how to train and their group of running friends always push each other to be better. This is the same way we do business at RE/MAX Properties, Inc. in Colorado Springs. We have the systems, tools, and culture built that enables our agents to push each other. We work in a competitive yet humble environment where we thrive off of each other's successes. Just like we did in the 2019 Pike Peak Ascent and Marathon. Hats off to our team members who finished the race and we hope to see more of you next year!
