Colorado Springs has earned the 9th spot on the top 100 Best Places to Live in America on Livability...

A recent article from Livability ranks Colorado Springs as number 9 on a list of 100 for Best Places to Live in America.

One may ask what does it take to make the list? Livability calculates the total of categories such as Civics, Demographics, Economy, Education, Health, Housing, Infrastructure, Amenities and Remote Ready. They also look at  factors such as safety, affordability, outdoor recreation, accessibility and, community engagement and give a LIVSCORE to each city. Colorado Springs received a score of 734, only 56 points away from being #1!             

This comes at no surprise to locals, with all the city has to offer:

With an incredible city park system and 300 days of sunshine, Colorado Springs offers numerous outdoor recreational opportunities to fill your days all year long.  For the winter enthusiast skiing and snowboarding are just a couple hours away.

The Colorado Springs City Council in October approved a proposal to acquire 343 acres of open space known as Fishers Canyon that will further preserve the western backdrop of our skyline, provide continued protection of wildlife habitat, offer incredible views, and has the potential to connect exciting and long-anticipated trail corridors.

Over the past few years downtown Colorado Springs has begun a transformation bringing more businesses, residents, and desire to visit/move to the area. Some transformations include the newly built World Class U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum, the Vermijo Street Plaza, Weidner Stadium, 3,000 new residential units and dozens of new businesses and restaurants. 

The health care industry is also thriving in Colorado Springs. U.C Health and Centura Health are rapidly expanding. U.C. Health in Colorado Springs has been renewed of its lease of the City’s Memorial Hospital assets, Centura Health is building a orthopedic hospital and Hybi Sports Medicine & Performance Center has joined clinical practice with graduate and undergraduate education and research.

Higher education institutions in Colorado Springs is another area that is adding and expanding. Air Force Academy, UCCS, Colorado College and Pikes Peak Community College are adding programs to meet the current and future workforce needs. One program added is an Aerospace Engineering Degree at UCCS and also entering UCCS into an MOU with the U.S. Space Force. This addition enhances Colorado Springs' presence in the space arena.
