Colorado Springs | 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Downtown Celebration

On February 9, 2018, Colorado Springs, United States Olympic Committee and Colorado Springs Sports Corp hosted a Celebration from 5-9pm for the opening of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

RE/MAX Properties Inc. hosted a party to celebrate the 2018 Olympics opening ceremonies at the downtown office. RE/MAX Properties Inc.'s downtown office is situated right in the middle of the Olympic celebration action:

The highlight of the evening was the NBC broadcast of the Opening Ceremony from Pyeongchang on a 17-foot wide LCD television unit. This exciting event allowed attendees to experience the magnificent opening ceremonies and the arrival of the powerful 245-athlete United States Olympic Team at the 35,000-seat Olympic Stadium. Complete with an introduction from Colorado Spring's Mayor John Suthers, Olympic City USA lighting by the greatest speed skater in history: Eric Heiden. Heiden won an unprecedented 5 Gold medals for individual speed skating and one world record at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid. Eric is from Wisconsin and is considered the most successful athlete at the Lake Placid Olympic Winter Games. Eric single-handedly won more gold medals than any nation except for East Germany, and the Soviet Union. Eric is still today considered to be the most successful athlete from a single winter Olympic Winter Games. Eric was inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame in 1983.
