When friends or family visit from out of town we give them this list of things to do in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, offering residents and visitors alike breathtaking views, unparalleled outdoor recreation, and a thriving community. With attractions like The United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum, the Manitou Incline, Garden of the Gods, and thousands of acres of open land with countless trails, it's no wonder why Colorado Springs is both a great place to live and a great place to visit.

One of the newest attractions in Colorado Springs is the United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum, which opened in 2020. This state-of-the-art museum showcases the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the athletes who have represented the United States in these competitions. Hike the Manitou Incline

The Manitou Incline is a popular hiking trail located in nearby Manitou Springs. It's a steep climb, with a gain of over 2,000 feet in less than a mile, but the views from the top are worth the effort. The trail used to be a railway track used to haul materials up Pikes Peak. Now, it's a challenging hike with an elevation of over 8,500 feet. At the top, hikers are rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and Colorado Springs below.

Garden of the Gods is a breathtaking natural wonder located in Colorado Springs. The park features towering sandstone rock formations that were formed millions of years ago. Visitors can hike, bike, or horseback ride through the park's trails, or take a guided tour to learn more about the geology and history of the area. There are also picnic areas, a visitor center, and a café on-site.

Hike on Countless Trails in Thousands of Acres of Open Land

Colorado Springs is surrounded by thousands of acres of open land with countless trails that are accessible to the public. The city's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department manages over 9,000 acres of parks and open spaces, including popular spots like North Cheyenne Cañon Park, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and Palmer Park. Hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding are all popular activities, and there are trails for all skill levels. When you venture up Barr Trail or off into various areas within Pike National Forest, the options for a variety of trail are nearly endless.

Visiting the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado is an unforgettable experience. As one of the most famous 14ers in Colorado, Pikes Peak towers over the city of Colorado Springs and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. Visitors can choose to hike the Barr Trail, which is a challenging but rewarding 13.3-mile (one-way) hike to the summit, or take the Pikes Peak Highway, which is a scenic drive that winds up the mountain and offers numerous pull-off points for photo opportunities. Once at the summit, visitors can take in the breathtaking views, visit the Summit House for food and souvenirs, and even purchase a famous Pikes Peak donut (which are totally stale about somthing about them being served on top of a mountain makes them famous). A visit to the summit of Pikes Peak is a must-do for anyone visiting the Colorado Springs area.
